I have a 1960 Chevrolet Apache 10 that I bought and I'm wondering about the hood. It has the 62 style hood, and I was wondering if it is possible for any of them to have been made with that style of hood. I just figured that someone changed the hoods at one time and matched the paint colors up. Anyone Know?
No. The 60 & 61 had the same hoods. The 62/66 had different hoods. You can go to my website and see my 61 hood. Thanks. http://webpages.charter.net/hkypooh/
Actually the 60 hoods are different from the 61 hoods. The 61 hoods have the single horizontal bar with the turn signal in the brows. As for the 60 hood, it has may horizontal bars on it with the light being in the center of the brows. The 60-61 GMC hoods are identical but not the 60 and 61 chevy hoods. The hood in the picture from the site above is correct for the 61 but not for the 60.
Actually the hoods are the same. The only thing different are the turn signal bezels. Attachments: https://talk.classicparts.com/images/attachments/
Chevrolet listed the later model (62-66) hood as a replacement for the 60-61 hood as soon as they started making the new style. Nobody seems to like the 60-61 hood anyway and the 62-66 is easier to find, hence the rarity of the old style. I spent forever looking for a 60-61 hood for my '65. When I finally found one it was warped beyond reapir so I had to find another one. Now that I have it, I sure seem to see them a lot more. CHEVYTRUCKNUT61 is right about the 60-61 hoods being the same except for the turnsiganl lenses (and the '61 hood had four extra holes in it for emblems that the '60 didn't)if you are looking for one, good luck! If you're a really good bodyman, I know where there is a rust-free but not-so-straight one for cheap--Like $50-60. lemme know- --TrustyRusty
