During the restoration of my 1961 Chevy Apache, I am using the original single speed wiper motor. The wipers run fine but will not park. Anyone know how to solve this problem? Also, can I go to a two speed motor? I see nothing listed for a 61 at Chevy Duty. Thanks:(

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Oct-28-02 AT 02:57 PM (CST)]Did this start after you put the wiper arms back on? The 2 speed wiper motor will bolt in. The 1 speed motor has 3 terminals, and the 2 speed has 4 terminals. I'm not sure who carries a wiper motor for the 60-62.

The wiper motor has an internal switch which is connected in parallel with the dash wiper switch. When you turn off the dash switch the motor switch remains closed until the blades reach the park position at which point a cam allows that switch to open. Either the switch or the cam is malfunctioning. You need to disassemble the wiper motor housing to get to that mechanism.
