1961 Pickup Restoration

I Have a 1961 Apache Longbed Fleetside I'm starting work on. It's a complete truck and I'm planning on turning it into a shortbed and doing the body work myself. The motor turns over so I'm somewhat optimistic I can use most of what I have to get a running truck. I'm looking for suggestions on the tear down process. I have hit some small snags such as I don't can't seem to get the wipers off (this is stupid I know). I read there is a spring loaded tab you push but can't seem to find it. Any tips or pointers on this or any other part of the process? I'll take all the tips you have or if there's anyone in the Dallas area that wants to come pitch in I'd gladly take the wisdom and help.

Looking forward to this process though it shows it will be slow and challenging.

I hope you enjoy the rebuild as much as I'm enjoying mine. There are some real knowlegeable folks on the forum who are very willing to help. I can't help with the wipers question. Welcome aboard.

Snapon tool part number a192, don`t really need this it does make it a little easier, you can use a small #4 srew driver, grab the hinged end with one hand, with the other use the screw driver to grab the edge on the opposite side and gently rock back and forth, use a standard eraser one inch by two by 1/4 thick to pry against so as not to damage paint...
 
Thanks for your help guys. I'll try then out tonight and hopefully have the front clip and the wipers off tonight.
 
Door Hinges

Do you guys have a recommended type of screwdriver for removing the door hinges? I was thinking about getting a bit that would go on a ratchet so I could get more torque but I'm concerned it might just be a quick way to strip them out.

Matt get yourself a can of PB blaster, rust penetrant, soak them down good and leave overnight, I believe you might have to use a philiips impact driver on the doors to get them loose, you use a ball peen hammer on the end while turning this heavy screw driver to pop them loose, invaluable tool to have on hand..

X2...I've had one of these tools for years and they are great.
