I am ready to re-install the wheelhouse on my 1966 C10 Fleetside and remembered when I removed them there appeared to be residue of some type of caulk or seam filler between where the wheelhouse bolts against the inner side panel. My question: does anyone know if there was something used from the factory?

I'm not positive what factory used but I would use a quality Seam Sealer from the local parts supplier. Same stuff factory uses on modern cars to seal the factory seams.

That stuff does a great job, dries hard and is paintable.

Thanks for the feedback. I received an email today from a gentleman who has restored several 60-66 and he stated the factory did use a seam filler and he suggested even a 3M Strip Chalk as a suitable option. I have about a third tube of seam filler left over....sounds to me like a good place to put it.
