Hi I have a rusty 78 manual 4 speed 4X4 suburban. My question is would the engine, tranny and transfer case fit in a 1977 Suburban that originally had an automatic 2X4 in.
I'd love to restore my sub but think its too much work. Can you lift the entire body off one and put it on the other?
    Thanx

I think this is the best way to do it if you have a lot of strong friends. To put the front suspension from the 4wd into the 2wd you will have to modify the 2wd frame, and it would probably be easier to just fix the rust with patch panels than that.

I think the main difference between the two bodys will be the tranny tunnel. The 4wd tunnel is taller and has the removeable cover for the t-case.

Im not sure on the 70's models but the hum may be smaller on the 2wd burb therefore requiring a body lift to make it fit - something to look out for. good luck
