If built right, there is nothing wrong with two bolt mains. It would not be the choice if you plan on building a stroker or high performance motor. But for an everyday driver that is driven in an "adult" manner, the two bolt will work fine.

I belive you can build a 2 bolt up to 400hp as long as care is taken during the build up. Balancing is a major factor. 327's are all 2 bolt mains. Chevy had 327's up to 330hp with no problems. Ed

I TOOK MY TWO BOLT MAIN DOWN TO THE LOCAL MACHINE SHOP AND HAD THEM TO THE GRIND AND CROSS DRILL SO I COULD PUT IN AFTERMARKET FOUR BOLT MAINS, BY DOING THIS YOUR ACTUALLY GOING TO END UP WITH A STRONGER MOTOR THAN USING A STOCK FOUR BOLT BLOCK. ITS STRONGER BECAUSE WITH A STOCK FOUR BOLT THE BOLTS GO STRAIGHT IN WERE WITH THE AFTERMARKET MAIN CAPS THE TWO INNER BOLTS (ORIGANAL TWO BOLTS) STILL GO STRAIGHT IN BUT THE TWO NEW OUTER BOLTS GOING AT AN ANGLE WICH STRENGTHENS THE MAINS. YOU CAN GET THE MAIN CAPS FROM SUMMIT OR JEGS, BUT YOULL WANT A MACHINE SHOP TO DO MACHINING TO KEEP IT ALL SQUARE. ITS NOT TO TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE AND ITS GOOD INSURANCE FOR RUNNING HIGH HORSE POWER AND HIGH RPMS
