Had a guy come by the shop that needed a set of better wiper transmissions and rods for his 52. We talked a bit and he is putting a 235/T5/Colorado rear in his 52 and wanted to know if I wanted his old engine/trans/closed driveshaft set up and if not he was hauling them to the scrap yard. (See, Nate is telling you the truth). I said I still had a few open spots on my 4 acre open storage lot so bring it on. He then added I might want to put the engine in one of my sheds since it has been converted to full pressure oiling and insert type bearings. I need a 216 like an Eskimo needs snow but maybe someone else does. I believe he will actually bring it since he says he's short on space and if he does, would anyone be interested? I know nothing of the way it runs or sounds but if the bottom end is good it would make a good starting point.
What Tranny ? Evan : THANK YOU for saving this important (if worthless) bit of BOWTIE history ~ a converted 216 should run out nicely and last along time , sooner or later someone will want it and give you some $ to boot . What tranny ? please don't sell off nor scrap any tranny / drive line parts until we've talked . TIA ,
216 engine question ? Hey you guys As my truck still have the old tranny in it and is stalled away for winter storage i wanted to ask you guys for some practicall help. Need to know the following measurement ; What is the Dia. of the hole in the back of the Bell Housing (216 CI) that the bearing retainer indexes (centers) the BH into? Thank Martinius.
