Have you monkeyed with the idle mix screw?

Spray around the butterfly for the throttle plate with wd40 to check for vac. leaks there also.

The Bakelite base spacer will crack and cause a serious vacuum leak , it'll prolly run fairly well off idle but will not idle atall unless the choke is pulled out .

Dismount the carby and gently raise the Bakelite spacer off the intake manifold , unless it's *perfect* , it's junk .

NOTE : no gasket is used between this spacer and the intake manifold .
