    Looking for some information on process and techniques for splitting the exhaust manifold on a 235 inline 6 for my '56 3200. Also, if anyone out there has an extra laying around, let me know how much you want for it.

    Not many still do this and fewer yet , do it correctly .

    You'll need a good one to begin with , no cracked / re-welded ears , broken studs etc.

    Do you want it to run better or do you just want the LOUD noise the poorly made ones the Low Riders use ? it makes a lot of differance , for noise , you want a true split header but for more power at all engine speeds and loads you only want a second outlet like GM made for the '54 Corvette , it has no restriction between the halves . .

    I'm pretty sure I posted the info of where to send it for the correctly done one , it's noisy but doesn't make the rapping noise so beloved by some , look for it in older posts under split headers .

    I hope this helped...

    Well ;

    It's for a true split manifold , the one that reduces fuel economy and driveability whilst increasing the noise level ~

    Plus , it assumes you know how to weld cast iron , a nearly lost art these days judging by the cracked and ruined exhaust manifolds I see....

    Since there's NO pictures you don't know what you're going to have in the final products , some split manifolds are in fact two seperate pieces when they're done , again , useless except on the racetrack....

    For $6.95 I guess it's cheap to go have a looksee .

    I made the mistake of purchasing from this ebay shyster. The takeaway from this is essentially "cut your manifold in half with a hacksaw and figure the rest out by yourself". Total waste of money; in fact, I threatened negative feedback and promptly got a refund. So, don't waste your time or money.

    I'm not in love with the rapping sound - I only want better performance. If you were to simply add a second outlet to the existing manifold, would this be better than creating two separate pieces? Not sure I understand how the closed ends of two pieces would cause more restrictions and thus decreased economy?

    Dual Outlet Exhaust Manifold

    Yes ;

    Adding an additional outlet will imprsove exhaust flow and so increase tractible power .

    Those split things are for retards who like noise & ' style ' over subsance

    Exhaust Flow & Scavanging

    Having two seperate , individual outlets foces the engine to not breath as well as it can , this is why it reduces power and economy .

    It's ONLY useful on the race track , once the engine is wound up to full tilt boogie...
