327 / 283??

HOWDY!!! bruce here (desperado),can a 283 be made to "look" like a 327?? by changing out intake & waterpump?? (I think sombody is trying to pull a "fast one") looks like a 327 but the numbers show it as 283?? can this be done??...bruce (

If the block casting numbers say it's a 283, then it's a 283.
Remember that the heads and almost everything else from a 327 will swap onto the 283 block.

'd' is absolutely correct. In my travels to start the restoration of
our '64, I have stumbled across mucho good intel on the net. Sounds
like you have some lists of numbers. Trust them. Also, there are alot
of people out there that really DON'T know what they have. Someone
told them it was a......and they believe it without confirming. I
looked at an advertised 350 Chevy that really WAS a 327. The same
guy had a 327 for sale that was a '75 350. The guy he bought it from
told him..... See what I mean? The numbers don't lie. Good luck.

Hey Bruce,

Where do you look up the engine numbers? I have a 327 (so I was told)of unknown vintage in my '60 but don't know how to verify.
