I live in Kansas too and have an engine if you can live with something other than a 350. I have a 283 I just pulled from my 66 that runs great. Ready to install for $100. Just a thought.

ACTUALLY< HOLD THAT THOUGHT DONT SELL JUST YET MIGHT WANT IT. MAYBE YOU CAN ANSWER ME THIS. Can you achieve the power of a 350 with a 283? And also does a chevy small block rebuild kit apply to a 283, just want the V8 power and if i can get it with the 283 then i will probably buy it. Thanks

If you upgrade from a 6 to a v8 then you will see a big difference even with a 283. In my 66 I had plenty of power with this 283. I just wanted to try a 350. It really was not a huge difference. Sure a 283 can be made to perform a lot better and parts for them are cheap and plentiful. This engine is a 2bbl. If you just go to 4bbl heads and a 4bbl intake and carb you will have plenty of power. Your decision. If you want mine I live on the west side of the Kansas City area. I can give you directions if you want to look at it. Thanks !

Just let me talk to a few friends about it, because i just want to be able to urn the tires off of my ruck like i know you can with a 350. What kind of gas mileage do you think i would get? Because i dont want it to be to terrible, also just to let you know i live in Osawatomie so i think we are pretty close. Thanks

In my 66 I was getting about 18 mpg on the hiway. I am going to Ossawatomie on sat, my favorite salvage yard is Hiway 7.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON May-17-05 AT 10:26 AM (CST)]Sorry ive decided i cant compromise the power of a 350 for a 283 might as well get V8 gas mileage and have the V8 power thanks anyway.
