3600 front brake shoe return spring

Original posted on old Chevy trucks. When that went away I kind of dropped out. I have a 1951 3600 that I have been driving to cruise-ins for about 22 years, just broke a front brake shoe return spring and having trouble finding one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

This answer is from a 1939-54 GMC Master Parts Book. Not Chevy, but I'd bet your life they have the same brake parts.

1939-52 GMC 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks use the same front brake shoe return spring, part number 475511.

Chev's of the 40s list a 475511 brake shoe return spring set (2), but say for 1946-50 1/2 and 3/4 ton front.

The Filling Station lists 475511 for 36-52 Chevy cars and trucks.

But I'd suggest contacting our host, Classic Parts, and getting one (or two) of these:

It's critical to only replace brake springs in axle pairs .
