    Would any one out there happen to know how long the standard gear shift for a 4 speed tranny in an AD truck is? I dont have easy access to one, and I want to try to keep things looking halfway stock, and I was thinking of ordering a Lokar nostalgia shifter, but I dont know whether to go with a 23 inch or a 32 inch. Looks to me like the 32 would stick up like a sore thumb and the 23 might be a bit short....All help appreciated. Scott.

    I put a 32" in my fleetside, like you say alittle to tall. If I did it again I would put in the shorter of the two. Chris

    AhHa! BUT~ if you have a girl friend who sets next to you when you drive, it's at the right height! (especially if you have to back up...)

    Scott;
    The sm420 shifter on my 54 is very close to 24.5" above the floor in first gear which is about the highest shifter position. The shifter has a pretty fair bend in it be cause the 420 is a short tranny and the shifter practically comes out of the floor under the dash.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey thanks guys

    Thats kind of what i was thinking...that the 32 incher was overkill, for me anyway. I think I am going to to with the single bend instead of the double bend. My girlfriend will just have to let me snuggle her anyway. I am sure the Mrs. wont mind a bit. :eek:
