400 trans question

Hey guys my service writer at work said his father in law has a 400 trans out of a mid 70's pontiac. I don't know much about tranny's so here's my question. Is this an over drive transmission? I know that a 350 trans is not and a 700r4 is but I didn't know about the 400. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope. High gear in a TH400 is 1:1

That's what I was afraid of. Might as well stick with the 700R4. Thanks
