    Hey newbie, welcome!

Nice looking truck (although it has the wrong grille!;)) It looks pretty solid given all the snow I see in the background. Give us your name and where you live! Is that the original bed? If it is, it's in remarkably good shape!

    wanna trade?

Not only the bed, but the overall truck looks to be in very good shape - but of course according to the time stamps on those photos, that was in 2008 and we all know a lot can happen in 2 years time! (or in my case NOT - 6 years and counting). How many miles you got there? Reason I ask is because it doesn't look like there are many battle scars. So, let's here your truck's story - where, how, when did it come to you. I read what your plans are in your previous post. Welcome aboard and thanks for the pics.

    Welcome Aboard.

You will not be disappointed with this site. These guys will be able to answer any question you will have along the way in your restoration. Some good natured GMC ribbing is sure to come your way also. Again welcome and we always love the photos.

Perfect patina. I'd spray it with a clear with flattener to preserve it, get all the running gear right and drive it. Later, when you want to make it pretty, take it all down and do any patch panels.

I bought it from a guy who had a shop full of old cars and trucks. I was impressed. He had brought it in from out west. it had a wyoming plate on it but it was previously titled in S. Dakota. that is why it is in such good shape. With the way they pour salt on the roads up here (N.E. Wisconsin), something like that would be rotten away to nothing by now.
It is in remarkable shape, the paint is rusted off but there are no holes. The frame cleaned up to original paint with minor surface rust.(unbelievable). It ran too. Did not burn any oil, would start right up. It had 40k??? miles on it. When they are this old you never know what the mileage is... I almost hated to tear it apart. But that is why I bought it. It went into the shop and has been in pieces ever since.
That is not the original bed. The previous owner put that in, it either did not have a bed when he bought it or it was in pretty bad shape. It has a few little dents which i figure will pound right out, otherwise a pretty solid truck. which makes working on it a complete joy. Check it out...

    Welcome, CTZR!

Now THAT is a beautiful, manly looking truck!

I bet brit50 is drooling over that nearly perfect GMC grill!

So is that a 1/2 ton truck? It looks like you have the 3/4 bed.

Great truck! Thanks for the pictures!

    Oh , My HEART !

I love it ! thanx for the pix , I especially like the l o n g motor pix as I'm a Chevy guy who suffers badly from ' L O N G Motor Envy ' as do most of the Bowtie Bunch

Of course , we have the better looking trucks so that's a minor bit of comfort :p .

Keep us posted on the progress and don't be PO'd by the ribbing you'll get .

    Thanks vwnate1,
the ribbing don't bother me, we all know the GMC is one tough truck. I use to own a '49 Chevy 3/4 ton while I was in the Navy back in '78. In fact that is what I was looking for when I found this GMC. When I saw this GMC I quit looking.

That is just wonderful, something I may, if I may, use on some of my co-workers that have no taste for the like of our trucks.
