4spd muncie with 283

I have a 57 with 283 with a 3spd on the column, I like to know whether i can take my 4 spd out of my other 57 that has a 235 in it. Will the bell housing be interchangable for both tranny's or will i need to change it

Yes i had the origonal 3 speed in my 56 3100 and i just changed it to a m21(pre 68Gm) and its a direct bolt in i just had to run a longer bolt with a nut on the bottom two mounts because the m21 bold holes were not threaded. Hope this helps
