Is there a 5 lug hub that will fit exactly as the 6 lug hub on the stock spindles on my '54 1/2 ton? Like maybe the spindles are the same for Chevy CARS of the same era and that the cars used a 5 bolt pattern instead of the 6 lug that the trucks used?

Reason I'm asking is there is a really good and inexpensive front disc conversion kit that uses the original hubs on our trucks and over the counter rotors and calipers from your FLAPS. Certainly a less expensive way to go than the kits available online. I need the five bolt pattern because I'm also doing Nova rear end swap at the same time and want to keep the same bolt pattern front and rear.

I'm going to call the guy that makes the kit today and ask him as well if others have done this, but I wanted to run it by you all too.

53-54 Chevy car front hubs are five bolt on a 4.75" circle. They will bolt directly to your 54 1/2 ton spindle with no modification.

    bolt pattern

Thanks Bill. Anybody know the bolt pattern on a 1973 Chevy Nova Rear end? I have never measured a bolt pattern. How exactly is that done anyway?

From the center of one bolt to the edge of the most opposite bolt is your bolt pattern. It should be the standard GM 4 3/4".

It's 5 on a 4.75 bolt circle. All the small (rear wheel drive) and midsize GM's, Corvette, and the S10 used this pattern. Exception is the four cylinder cars which had only four lugs. The easiest way to determine bolt circle is to buy one of those $2 plastic gauges that has all the popular patterns on it. Keep one in my pickup for junkyard scrounging.

Russ is correct, IF it is a 5 bolt pattern.

    bolt pattern

Thanks all for the info. After scrounging the "brake swap" threads on this forum, I have decided to go with the Speedway kit. It's the same bolt pattern as the Nova rear I'm using, uses over the counter rotors and calipers that can be picked up at the FLAPS in the future if needed and it's the least expensive kit I have seen at $249. Also I don't have to worry about swapping out spindles and matching things up either. thanks for the help.
