    Hassman,

The Chevy Dealer here gave me SAE 80W-90 API GL-5 to put in the transmission. That also is what Nate told me to get. I took the #'s right off the Quart bottle from the GM Dealer. Hope this helps.

Isn't that the same as the stuff used in the steering box?

    Gear Oil

I've been writhing in pain since Friday's midnight repair marathon .

Anways , yes , 85W - 90 Gear oil (or 90W if you can still find it anywhere) gets the nod for both mnual gearbox and steering gear .

Be aware the steering gear tends to drip so it'll need more every couple months .
