I keep finding more challenges. In process of trying to fix the U joint on my 53 Chevy 1/2 ton I found that the all in one casing (U joint attached to transmission cover) has a crack and I may need to get a new casing. Or can it be welded. If not, any suggestions on where to find/buy a not too expensive casing. Ay yi yi!

Is it the transmission casing or the bell that is cracked. I have both. A real good welder can weld it as long as the now how to weld cast

thanks for your on-going help. what do you mean the "bell"? It appears the "cover" is all one unit.
    thanks.

The bell as I call it slides on the end of the torque tube. It covers the u joint.
