Would anyone know if the 54 chevy truck emblem would fit on a 47-53 hood in the existing holes? Thanks
will be doing soon... I will be doing this soon. I think awhile ago...I put it up and figured that I might be able to use two of the screws, but the other two I would need to drill and cut the little bases shorter...overall the answer is no, but... there is always a but when working with these old guys. I have both, so I am not worried, but it is a 54. I will soon see, if I pull out that front clip and finish painting it! Too many things going on right now. rod
Doing research you guy's are right, but from looking at pictures I think I would only have to drill the 2 middle holes as morabuffalo stated. So either find a 54 hood or drill some holes in the hood I already have. Thanks
That's assuming that the distance between the 2 outermost holes is the same for the 48-53 and the 54-55.1. On the pre-54's it is 14 and 1/2 inches +/-. I don't know on the 54-55.1.
We can eliminate all the guessing & StoveBoltPage style Bull Sh!t answers now If you mount the 54/55.1 ornament in the standard location on a 1947-1953 hood.... you will have to re-drill all 4 mounting holes & you will need to fill 2 holes & dimples in the hood. You CAN get creative & mount the 54/55.1 ornament in a lower position on the 47-53 hood & you can hide all the 47-53 mounting holes in the hood..... {you will still need to drill 4 new holes for the 54.55.1 emblem }
