Is there a RIGHT way to remove a wiper arm on a 1954 PU. Looks like someone has pryed at it in the past.

I always use a wiper arm removal tool. Mine are off the $2.99 rack at the local parts store but all the tool people like Mac's or Snap On have them. I have to modify the size of the slot sometimes if the knurled sleeve is exceptionally big or small but most are the size the tool comes in. Use a bondo spreader and soft wood blocks to get the right prying height. The bondo spreader as a cushion between the tool and the paint will prevent marring.
