When I bought my truck all the wires and hoses under the dash were scrambled or disconnected. I bought a new wiring harness and hooked up all the guages and they work fine. Now I have moved on to the the wipers and I hope that when I get the lines all hooked up they will work too. I have no idea how the vacuum lines are supposed to run and I can't find a diagram in my shop manual. I've attached a picture of the wiper motor with the vacuum nipples numbered. Can someone take a look at their setup and help me on where the lines go? I think that some of them are for the windshield washer, but I'm not sure. My friend has a 57, but it was no help because it has an electric wiper motor. Currently the nipple numbered 1 in the picture is capped. The ones numbered 2 and 4 have nothing on them. And 3 and 5 have hoses hanging off them that go nowhere. Thanks for any help. Stan
Only one of those conections is for the vacuum hose going to the manifold. The others are for a windshild washer setup. I have a vacuum motor off of my 59 but I cant find it. I'll try again later if no one has answered this. Chris
by this time wasent there an electric setup avalable? wouldnt it be easier to make one of thouse work?
oh man i had one of those in mine !!!! my suburban had a 235 (6) with vacum wipers !!!!! if you must stay with vacum just hook up a vacum line off your engine and try it ? you really cant hurt it ? mine was worn out more rpms of the engine the slower wipers went and at idel it worked ok ? they make a kit 2 speed electric wipers bolts right up to your stock wiper arms brand new !!!!!! its been a while back mine was like $169.00 ? they are the way to go !!!
