I am thinking about replacing my 6 volt generator with a 6 volt alternator so I don't have to put my battery on the charger so often. Has anybody here done this? If so, how easy is this and where should I buy it? Any info is appreciated. Thanks, JW
I used to have them done by Campbell's Auto Electric in Plano, Texas but he retired several years ago. I still have a 6v positive ground alternator I got for a GMC but would definitely stay with negative ground. He charged me no more than for a regular 12v one. I googled "6v alternator" and got over a million listed posts.
6 Volt Alternators Consider 5th Avenue Auto Parts... An alternator won't prevent dead batteries , it'll just charge them up faster .
convert to 12 volt.. i did and will never go back. i can get you a 12 alternator and all the things you need for your gauges and lights and everything..
To late, just installed 6volt today. Took about an hour from start to finish. Thanks Nate, I bought it from fifth avenue everything I needed in the kit. Super fast shipping too. JW
6 Volt Alternators Glad you liked it ! . It's simple and direct , no fooling 'round with fried fuel gauges etc..... I hope you told him Nate says hi .
