Hooked up my radio today using a 6v to 12v converter, and a CP USA2 radio. I have it working with Altec Lansing computer speakers (two old cubes I had laying around) and it all seems to work great. :D It doesn't sound like the Bose system in my Yukon, but it sounds pretty good for something wipped up from parts. I'm going to tear through some more old boxes and look for a few more speakers so I can mount a few behind the seat. Havn't figured out the best place to screw the cubes to yet. (I may have to make some under dash brackets) And I still need to figure out what to do with the antena. It looks like the best place to put the antena would be behind the gas fill nozzle but that will require a longer wire. Helo Radio Shack tomorrow:)

Behind the seat installation is easy. 2 hog rings in the top holes of the speaker bracket and let the speaker magnet hold it against the seat springs. Worked awesomely in my '67! As far as the antenna, you might think about mounting one under the runningboard.

    Great idea Ken,

Hadn't thought about that. Couldn't figure out where to put it as I don't want to be drilling any more holes in the truck than it came with.

    Great ideas

I agree, great idea!!! I played around with putting it under the dash (and may still surf the net for some new inventions) and behind the seat. Then dicided the best place for a conventional antenna would be outside. I never thought of outside and underneath:) Thats why I love the forrum:)

    AM Antenna Placement

First & foremost , you must never , EVER place any antenna on the curb side of any vehicles as the jerkhoff ner'do wells will simply rip it off or bend it one fine day

Running board antennas work out well , they're hidden but every time you drive over a man hole cover you'll get a bust of static . remember to use an insulated mount for the tip ~ a simple Adell clamp will work perfectly .

Left rear cab is nice , out of the way and looks pretty but back of cab mounting is easy to break if you ever work your truck .

Correct location is on the left cowl ,look caefully before you mount it as it can foul the sun visor you find N.O.S. in a yard sale two years from now....

Tin post mount antennas look very nice and are period correct .

Remember to match the impedance of the new speakers to the old one .
