62 to 63 swap

First of all this forum is awesome! Can I swap the front suspension from a 62 to 63-65? I've got the torsion bar set up and would like to go with the coils and if so is it a bolt up process or will I have to drill Thanks!:confused: Tony
 
Everything bolts up except for a coulpe bolts that you have to drill, from what I've been told when I had my 62. Didn't keep it long enough to do the swap though. Others that have done it will chime in. By the way WELCOME!!
 
I thought the 60-62 frames were different width than the 63-66. at least i know the rear of the frames are different, are the fronts the same?

Yes the rears on 60-62 are wider than the 63-66. The front, I heard was a little wider too, but on other forums poeple have done the swap. Like I said, I didn't keep my 62 long enough to the swap. I wish I would have, miss that truck.
 
Thanks to everyone for the advice and the welcome. What I'm tryin to swap is the upper and lower control a-arms and coils mainly cuz their easier to find parts for and rebuild. I've heard of guys snapping the torsion bar adjuster link and had to find a replacement in a junk yard cuz they couldn't find a new one:eek:

Hey, I am new the the forum but, not new the the Chevy trucks. All of the truck front ends are basically the same from 63-87. The 60-62 as mentioned used the torsion bar suspension but it is still an easy swap. just requires a bit more work. My recommendation would be to find a donor truck 73-87. You can either swap out the A-arms and spindles using the disc brakes or, my preference is to use the entire cross member. Unbolt from the 73-87 roll under your rig and bolt it in. The 71-72 will work as well but use the steel bushings and are much harder to come by. 73-87 use the rubber bushings and are easy to get parts for and give you a better ride. If you want to use the power steering box you will need to mount that. No big deal. Also the master and booster will need to be changed but it is a bolt up as well. If you can find a good donar truck most of if not all can be swap out with out having to buy much of anything. Good Luck
