In my truck, switches have been replaced with cheep toggle switches and I don't know what is original. To start the truck I turn the key to the start position, then push a toggle switch up to activate the starter. Is this correct if I replace the toggle with an original switch of some sort? Should it be a push button? The toggle is located on the small panel to the right of the gauge set. Also I have another toggle to the right of the headlight switch. Is this for the wipers?. I need a wiper motor so I think that is what this switch operates since nothing else happens when I switch it. Thanks...
my truck currently is all original and i have no push buttons. yes you could replace the key switch to fix the problem
The switches on this 64 dash starting to the left of the steering column are, from left to right, Headlights, Wiper, and Choke. ( mine is a dummy, choke just there for looks. On the right of the column, is a Lighter, and Ignition switch with Key. Sounds like someone got real "creative" under the dash with wiring. I'd recommend picking up the shop manual and 64 suppliment that has the wiring diagrams and return everything back to how it should be FIRST. Val
