64 original tachometer

I've got a '65 with factory tach. Here is how mine is hooked up:
If you have the original wiring harness, it should have a pink,
brown, and a gray wire. Looking at the back side of the tach, the
brown wire goes to the right terminal and pink to the left term.
The gray operates the light (plugs into fuse block). On the other
end, the pink wire plugs into an acc. receptacle on the fuse
block. The brown wire attaches to the NEGATIVE term. on the coil.
I have a factory assembly manual and double checked this info.

Hey JQ_72,
I've just become a member and as I was reading some of the questions
posted, I noticed your reply re:64 original tachometer. I have a similar problem. I have a 66 with an original tachometer but it only has one wire attached (looks to be the gray) directly located in the middle of the tach when looking at the back. There are 2 studs that I assume are the terminals where the other wires would land. Looks like a pink dot next to the left terminal stud so is that where the pink wire would be terminated? Also, on my distributor is 2 terminals marked "tach" and "batt", would one of these wires or both from the tach go back out to the distribtor and terminate?
Oh yea, where can I order a factory assembly manual for my 66 C10?

Be sure it's NOT tan. ( my wife tells me all GUYS are color blind)

It sounds like you have an HEI (coil located in distributer).
The TAN wire terminates to the TACH terminal. The Grey wire gets patched into the dash lights (also grey wire)

It sounds like you have an HEI (coil located in distributer).

if you're careful and you watch closely, you can find some good deals there. But beware of "e-bay fever"!
