I'm working on a '65 C20 and just picked up a '77 Silverado as a donor. After looking at it a bit, it seems to make sense to just put the '65 body on the '77 frame rather than swap out the parts. My biggest reason for this decision is that the frame of the '65 has a good bit of rust, and I'd have considerable time invested in repairing it. The '77 frame is perfect as is.

Has anybody tried this before and can give me some warning as to what to watch for...? I find the '65 wheel base to be 127" and the '77 is 131". Some where I've got to lose 4".

Its possible, I have a 66 LWB Step side. Your 4 inches are going to come between the cab and the front of the bed, at least thats where there is a large gap on my truck. You are going to have to keep your orignal cab mounts becuase the other cabs set to low. and frabricate a bottom mounting bracket for the radiator. Anything will work if you have the time or money.
