I had to scrap the original rear axle for my 72 K20 Suburban and replace it with a newer GM 14bolt rear axle. I now have a ebrake cable issue, and need someones advice if they've been through this before.
Problems:
1) The stock 14bolt Ebrake cables are too short, roughly 28" from mount to mount on the outer shell. The stock axle had ebrake cable shell is roughly 33" from mount to mount. I don't want to move my stock frame bracket location.
2) The 14-bolt has 13" brakes and the Older axle had 11.5" brakes. Can I use the older cables with the larger brakes, and still operate properly?
3) I no longer have the old axle cables, and when I order what should be the correct cables out of LMC or NAPA, they also end up too short with a 27" casing.
Any suggestions on the best way to resolve this?
