I have the possibility of getting a complete running 1979 GMC Sierra 3/4 Camper Special, with disc brakes, rebuilt 350 v8 (with less than 1500 miles on it - he bought an audi A4), turbo 400 etc. for really cheap. I have read a number of posts about disc brakes, front crossmember, rear end and such being a bolt in to the older trucks, with some adapters or minor drilling of mounting holes. Engine and tranny should be ok with new motor mounts and such (I have straight 6 in the truck now - which I will likely keep in), but I am wondering about the disc brakes and/or front cross member, rear end, front seat, seatbelts. Here comes the "I feel dumb to have to ask" question - What are the differences between a 1/2 ton & 3/4 ton suspension and brakes? What can I swap over? Any help or suggestions you can share would be appreciated.
