You have to ask yourself what you want to do with the truck.. Does the 6 cyl run good? Do you need a truck with more power? (well of course).. as for the dual exhaust.. again what do you want, a quiet motor or a rumbler, performance or economy. (always go with performance)

Well the 6 cycl. does run good. but im wantin more power i want to turn the truck into an old school hot rod or a street sleeper. i Recently found an article in Hot Rod magazine that has a buildup of a 305 that puts out 300 hp and 350 tq at 4,500 rpm. What would be the best route to go rebuild a 305 to their specs or rebuild a 350. which would be cheaper and get the best gas mileage.

I'm taking the Inline 6 out as soon as i find a V8 to drop in which sound it be 305 to Hot Rod Magazine specs. or 350, or should i just save and buy a crate engine.

    Thanks

Well a 305 and 350 (as you might already know) are basically the same block so if you want more power go with the 350. If you are looking for more power than building it yourself can be cheaper if you know what your doing, also factor in machine work, but with a crate motor you have a warranty, which is nice. as far as fuel mileage goes, if you want a more power you gotta give it more fuel, unless you get into the giggle juice. There is no replacement for displacement!!
