I have an 87 1/2 ton longbed with an original 305 TBI & Automatic. I have an opportunity to purchase an earlier donor truck with a carburated 454 4-speed (no computer stuff). What kind of issues am I subjecting myself to if I go forward? I plan to keep the Automatic Transmission.

If you have the donor truck, you may want to grab the motor mount brackets.

If you have the money, you may also want to rebuild the transmission. 700r4's can't handle too much hp stock, but they can be built to take a BBC. You will also need the throttle valve cable brackets for the carb to get it to work properly.

If you use a after market carb on the new beast you will need a TV corrector bracket other wise you will fry your 700R4. Also you might want to look into getting a beefier 700R4 to handle the HP. The other one will last if you can keep your right foot off the floor.
