    ok, i had a friend come over and help me with the valve adjustment (we used nate's article from deve's site) and while checking everything to make sure it was oiling properly, we noticed the #1 and #7 cylinder weren't weeping. also, right in the middle, between #6 and #7, the oil was running out from the bushings. a steady stream. is that where the oil is pumped up right there? everything else looked decent. there's oil getting to all parts of the shaft, just not all the way up and oil the weep holes on #1 and #7. is this a huge concern? the truck is sort of a weekend cruiser, parts chaser right now. no big long cross country drives as of now. thanks guys!

    Rocker Oiling

    Well ;

    If you hold the engine @ 2,500 RPM's for a minute or so , oil should begin to weep out those that don't @ idle .

    The center leaks shouldn't be there and fixing them will prolly solve your problem

    Some years the center joint piece is soldered to it's feed pipe and it'll crack or even break off as it did on a local truck I worked on , part is cheap to replace .

    You might need to take the entire rockershaft Ay. off and lay it out on a BIG clean beach towel to see why it's leaking , I'd address that ASAP , prolly no big thing but upper lubrication is important .

    If you can find a " Motors Manual " or maybe in the Online Manual Project , there'll be good photographs of how the various rockers , shims , springs and so on all go in the correct order , you may find a DPO goof , easy to fix .

    Don't be afraid to buy a used rocker shaft assy. complete off someone elses' junker engine and then mix 'n match the best bits to make yours work right but DO look at the pictures and ensure the right rocker is in the right position as they're often mixed up by DPO's .

    I hope this helps....
