Hi all. My project "Cash Cow 65'fleetside" has a bit of rust cancer in a few areas, mostly the cab floor, of which I have purchased new sheet metal for. There are still a few areas such as the hood, inner cab door metal, and the frame itself that needs help. My questions are:Should I acid dip the whole body and frame or sand blast? Does anyone have a good guesstimate of what acid dipping a fullsize truck cost? Also, does anyone know of a acid dipping place close to buffalo ny, I cant seem to find any. I would also like to know if anyone can suggest a stripping agent I could use in my garage, legally, to do the work myself? Thank you for any help possible.
I'm In IL. and I checked with a Co. that dip's and he gave me a price of $500 to dip the cab with the doors.
I only know of one and I don't think it's acid. I've heard it's better. They are METAL REHAB TECHNOLOGIES in Fortworth, TX. They are highly recommended by OLD CAR GARAGE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cost is around $2,000 to $2500 for entire truck (cab, bed, doors, fenders, tail gate, hood). It takes up to 2 weeks. They currently have a 2 month waiting list. You have to get the truck to them and back at your cost. They coat the parts with a temporary rust resist that they gurantee to last 2 weeks to protect it until you prime. Add $1000 total to the price and two more weeks turnaround time if you want them to prime everything with high grade epoxy primer. They can be found on the internet. Good luck.
