    Hey guys

I have started rebuilding the Saginaw tranny with Patricks conversion kit yesterday and the work progesses easely , when i discovered that one of the threads where to mount the collar cover is bad. The other 3 are good. A friend of mine suggested i should turn the screw ( a bit longer then the standard one ) and put the screwhead inside the tranny and mount an extra nut with nylon lining on the outside with some loctite.

Is that a good idea or is do you have some other suggestions what to do ?

    Appreciate any suggestions Martinius.

Are you talking about the collar that slides over the input shaft? If so can you use a Heli coil or drill it oversize and re tap to a larger size bolt?

    Inputshaft collar !

Yes it is the inputshaft collar. The thread that has to be redone is in the tranny house where the cover slides over the shaft. I like your proposal Big Tim.

Heli Coil is the best route but if you go to a larger bolt be sure the head of the bolt doesn't stick out past the edge of the bearing retainer. You will never get the trans up against the bell housing if it does. A bolt like they use on headers will work with maybe a bit ground off the edge of the built on washer under the hex part or even a socket head (Allen head) bolt.

Another option might be a metric bolt if you can find one that might be over sized enough to work with out too many problems.

    Thread Tap

Nop i have not! But it is wurth trying that to if the metal is `nt to hard.
But after your advices i went to my old mecanic friend in the next village here and he borought me a threadtap in the same size, maybe a bit more centric on top to get it in a straight angle towards the object. This will do the work i`ll gues?
I am going to Oslo today to fetch my old Nimbus motorcycle and will buy a helicoil aswell.

Thanks you all for your contribution. Martinius

    Thank
