Hello, I am new here. I have a 1986 K10 that I am starting to restore. My question to all of you is who has the best aftermarket sheetmetal parts available. Especially the the metal floor and box sides. I basically want to replace the entire box, cab corners and rockers panels. I know a lot of you have done restoration work on these trucks so your comments and suggestons would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)

Depending on where your at I would try to find a complete bed. Now I don't know about patch panels cause Ive never bought any.

Replacement Sheet Metal

The deal is : most of it is made in China and has super thin , poor quality metal that rusts fast (even in L.A. !) in addition to always being incorrectly stamped so nothing fits .

There are a couple of American sheet metal makers but I don't know their names , sorry .

Best bet is to buy good used sheet metal from the South West as OEM isn't very well rust proofed but it's absolutely the best there is .

I'm betting Joe , AKA ' Mother Trucker ' will be able to help you out here .

This is why it's so important to properly fill out your profile so anyone reading this will instantly know where you're at and will respond if they have a good space part you're looking for....

FWIW , in Ca. there's TONS of perfect sheet metal and beds being crushed for scrap daily as no one wants these rigs anymore so get to it ! hit up your local Pick-A-Part typ self service junkyard , you'll be pleasantly surprised by the stuff you find there .
