I'm getting ready to buy a chrome steering stem from Summit racing for my 54 chevy truck. Was wondering anyone that bought a aftermarket steering stem for there truck what drop did you use? They range from 0-3.5 inches. Not sure what will work best and needed some help. I know it's a matter of preference, but hoping I could buy once. So any inside would be great.

    Thanks,
    Rico

I used a flaming river steering column with a firewall brake booster instead of leaving the brake booster on the frame. Because of the brake pedal assembly in the cab I used a 2 inch drop from the assembly and for good measure I used the original column clamp with minor adjustment as well. So now the column is locked in tight, at the floor, the brake assembly and lower dash

I like mine hugged up tight to the bottom of the dash. It gets the wheel out of your lap. With a tilt, high mount and then the wheel adjusts to a more vertical position.
