I have a 1984 Chevy C-10 350 5.7 L gasoline. Below the altenator is what looks to be an Air pump assembly with one of the drive belts attached to it. Is this what it is? If so, I found and loosened the top retaining bolt, but there seems to be another bolt holding it in place so as not to let me loosen the drive belt. I can't see it and am wondering if it is accessible from the bottom. Chilton has a picture of it in the 84 book, but no other information is available. I have a shop manual that covers engine repair from '84, but it doesn't have a listing for an Air pump. Any comments greatly appreciated.
yes it is an air pump. why do you need to take it off i'm pretty sure you need that for all your emission hook up. I have the same setup on my 84 silverado but i have the 305 V8.
