I have my bed apart right now on my '52 and thought it might be good to put on a set of air shocks. NAPA doesn't seem to have any long enough. Anyone done this already? Can't find anything in a search.

    Thanks,
    Bob

Bob, I know that Monroe still makes gas shocks for our trucks. To me, when I hear air shocks, it reminds me of the ones that you could introduce air via a hose to stiffen the ride. If that's what you want, my suggestion would be to go to your local Monroe dealer and see if they still make an air shock that works on our trucks.

If you need them as helpers....look into air bags. They work much better at much lower pressures. Check airbagit.com, they are about the cheapest round. I used to run 4 wheel air shocks on my toyota minitruck as the whole suspension. They needed about 185 psi to carry the truck...which they did quite well...but I couldn't find an on board compressor and tank that could do it. I used a Truck Air compressor that plugged into the cig lighter and pumped each corner seperately, which took a while. Air bags use about 100 psi max for lift and onboard compressor systems are a lot cheaper than they used to be.
