I am trying to convert from a gen to an alt on a 283. I need to figure out the wiring, by the the alt I have has an internal regulator. please help.

Howie,
One wire from the alternator to the positive battery post. Bundle up old wires after removing the regulator.
OR, pick up the conversion harness, ( sold here I believe ), and make the swap in less than a half hour.
