HI all, Just dropped refreshed 283 in and am moving shifter to floor. My pillars are in back position. Was reading old posts that late 60's chevelle/ camero headers would fit and was just double checking if this was correct or if there where any other options. From what i've seen higher end car headers can be got from lower end truck prices. ps. just went for ride with buddy in his 69 he just got on road. Cannt wait to get mine rolling.
Those headers could interfer with the clutch bell crank on the left side. If the motor is in the stock location ( pillars are back (?)) then shortie block huggers would be a good option for you. If you plan on, or have already, lowered the truck the shorties allow the exhaust to be tucked up close so you won't have clearance problems seen in long tube headers, Val
headers... dval has a point, but, the shorties wont clear the factory starter...i bought a set of shortys that are made for the old chevy/gmc blazer v-6 to v-8 conversion...$149.00 summit racing.com g.t.
I'm not referring to the swept back 3/4 headers but the block hugger shorties like these. There should be no problem for a good exhaust guy to clear the starter using these. Val
CRAP, my bad dval.....i didnt even know they made a 3/4 header...when i drop mine its keepin the orig. starter so i went w/the shortys...just look like they can scavenge more exhaust than the block hugger style... g.t.
Here ar the 3/4 length headers I was referring to. I used these because I moved the motor forward and shortie block huggers would not clear the front crossmember any more. Note: If the truck is still a manual trans these headers would most likely interfere with the clutch Z-bar. Val
