I bet you guys get tired of this question:Replaced old external alternator with new internal one..

    How do I rewire it?

Going to the new alternator, I have a red wire (I assume this goes to the post on back of the alternator)

Black and blue wires in the old plug, which by the way does not fit the new alternator...do I just replace the plug?

and the ground wire...no place on the new alt for it....

do i rewire something at the voltage regulator itself ?

The one wire alt has a "post" on it. Hook wire on that terminal and run it across to the positive battery terminal. Then remove the voltage regulator. Use electrical tape and tape each loose, unused wire, then bundle up all those wires with electrical tape and tuck them up out of the way.

    DONE.

I did mine that way and it worked fine. I do believe our hosts here sell a one wire adapter harness. ( I can't remember ) But, I later installed that. That makes the connection using the old wires connected to the new harness, and that harness uses the plug receptical on the alt. It does away with running a wire to the positive battery post and is a much cleaner installation. Either way, it does away with the voltage regulator.

I liked that setup so much, that when I installed a one-wire alt in my 72 Chevelle, I used the same harness.
