Hi all, I'm new here. I've been working on my '57 for about 10 years. The truck is a 3200 and it was born and raised in northern California (Oakland area). I now live in a small farm town in Illinois where it's pretty unusual to have an old truck that's not rusting away. It's not quite done but I recently retired so maybe now I can finish it. Glad to be here!
Hey, Welcome and nice truck!! Did you know you fender emblums are on backwardsTake the drivers side and walk around to the passenger side and take the passenger one and walk to the driver side and they will be right. Cliff
Hi Truckman. Yes, I found out many years ago that they're backwards. I did switch them once, but then they looked backwards to me. I guess if I was doing a restoration back to original, I'd have to make them right. You really have 28 TF trucks? Wow! Any pics? Edit - Just found some of your photos in the gallery. Really nice stuff. That '59 looks like it just rolled out of the factory! Nice work.
Howdy & welcome Don , I,m fairly new here too . That is one FINE looking truck. I dont Know what it is about that color , I Normally wouldn,t like it. But it Sure fits These style of Trucks . Just Makes it Look exceptionally clean . As far as the Fender emblems , I Agree with You, I think GM put them on backwards . They just look right this way IMO . Do You have any Progress pics getting it to this point, Or of The Engine compartment ? Also I,m curious as to Wether thats the Originall grill or Aftermarket , If so How much was it , Only ones I have seen for a 57 are Chrome . Sorry for all the questions. Thanks , Bob
Bob - It is the original '57 grill, it's just been repainted. It was white from the factory along with the bumpers and headlight bezels. Chrome was optional and not as common back then. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of pictures. But I have the truck and I can take a few. I've pretty much rebuilt or replaced everything. New driveline, brake system, wiring, suspension, etc. I still have to do some work on the interior, maybe this winter. What's the status of that panel truck in your avatar?
Thanks for the Info Don, & Any pics Would be Great. We like Pics. As far As I was Wondering about the Grille , I Have a Black Primered one That Appears to be Brand new Possibly NOS , But not sure & I was Curious as to What it Might be worth . As far as the 57 Panel , Its on Hold for now, It Was A Project My late father in law had worked on, The Wife Really Wants Me to just sell it , But We haven,t decided yet. Looking Forward to More pics of Youre Truck, & If You Need any little Small Items for the 57 , Dont be afraid to ask. As We Have a lot of parts We Are selling . Bob .
