Have you ever been driving down the highway and had your hood to fly open on you? I have and it's down right scary! That not something that I want to experience again so I decided to upgrade to something a bit more modern. The solution? I used the latch assembly from my son's '97 that I'm going to be parting out. I figured that I may as well see if there were anything I could salvage before I let it go. I still have a few bugs to work out but it looks very promising.

upper latch I'm working on different shims to get it to fit flush. That's a 1/2" plywood block but it's a tad too tall. I'll probably experiment with a 3/8 and 1/4 piece to mock it up.

    lower latch
    under dash opener
    hood closed

This sounds like a good project .

I've never had an AD hood latch fail but most TF trucks never latched correctly when new due to poor latch design .

    1 problem...

That's very creative, again! I assume your son has caught the AD fever?

The only problem I see with what you're doing is, you'll need to paint out the symbol that shows the little car with the hood open and change it to the profile of an AD with it's hood open!

    Keep the ideas coming!

My son just likes to hang out with me. I have to enjoy it while I can because I know that will change when he gets older and starts hanging out with his buddies.

Don't be too sure he'll stray too far away , I raised my son in The Ghetto and he turned out well and still enjoys spending time with me .

I never , _EVER_ lied to him , his mother still does and wonders why we're so close and she's not.....

Remember : ' because I SAID SO ! ' is always an acceptable respnse as long as you're honest and have his best interest in mind...

Good on ya for introducing him to the wonderment of old trucks :)
