    On the board we discuss the rear end ratios and what is good for us (me) and our (my) truck.
    All I can say about it is the 342/1 and the stock 4 speed tranny is nice. This weekend we took off Saturday morning and headed toward the ghost town of Calico, Ca above Barstow, Ca. from our place in Simi Valley. Taking the 118 to the 405 to the 14 and then the Pearblossum Hiway to Victorville and out the 15 to .... . Well I got on the 40 and was headed east and did not see the Calico turnoff so we stopped in Newberry Springs and got fuel and proceeded on east. I had forgot about Calico we were so busy getting on and off the interstate looking at the different rock formations, cactus and the flowers we were almost to Nettles, Ca. and decided to just drive on into Lake Havasu City, Az. and on to the property and spend the night. We just got back and the trip do to the 342/1 was very very good. So if you have the funding to change things do it, do it now the ride is great. Total we put over 840 miles on the truck and all I have is a minor exhaust leak at the gasket and manifold.

    " Nettles " Or NEEDLES , Ca. ?

    That's a nice trip Charles ;

    I took off Friday and logged 427 miles on my old Mercedes , almost 100 % secondary roads too :p

    Sadly my brother forgor his camera and the only trains we saw were across the draw on Rt. 58 through Tahachipi .... :(

    To bad spell check don't fix what you think you are writing, Needles it was.

    For some reason computer has not let any photos up load since its trip to the geek shop last month or I would post one or two from the trip. That loop up there is really great to watch.

    Had to take out the gas tank yesterday and took it back to the nutank people today. I came out at lunch yesterday and there was a 2 foot circle under the truck from gas leaking to the ground. Took it back home and placed a plastic wash pan under it, by the time I got back home there was a little over a gallon in the pan. So the truck is grounded for over a week at least till I get the tank back. So far they say no new charges on the leak.

    That's It !

    Oatman , Az. it is indeed , THANX .

    Not really a ' Ghost Town ' tho' as many folks have purchased properties and retired there....

    If you follow old Route 66 East , the far side of the mountain is treacherous to say the least .

    rons50;

    I never get to see it traveling anywhere, so tell me how did it look traveling on the pavement? If I had known of the show there I would have headed there, bit the ride was great anyway.

    Zig,
    Thanks and keep working on that garage so to keep your ride out of those Ks. hail storms.
