Here is the video I shot of the anvil shoot on the 4th of July. It took me a while to get the cable I needed to download. Check it out.
The scream that you hear immediately after the explosion is my 19 year old daughter who was standing right beside me.

    Ahh Yes!

The simple joys of life. The only thing that would make that better would be if it was a F#@*!:D

    Hey Zig,
I had pulled up to our local drive through beer store this afternoon to get a coke and the guy in front of me got out and asked about my truck. He knew the guy that had it before. (Told you about my rural community where there are no secrets) Anyway he asked if anyone needed a babbitt engine or a 235. I told him I would keep him in mind and asked if he knew of any old trucks that were available. He said he had a 48 pickup that he had bought and had told another guy in the community he could have it for $200 but he never came to get it. He said someone had put a sunroof in it but had done a good job of it. I wanted to go look immediately but he said he would wait till frost before pulling it out of the thicket it was in. He says there may be some cattiwompuses in there that he doesn't want to deal with till it gets cooler.
I don't know about you but this sounds like an excellent opportunity to me!:D

    A sunroof...

That sounds as interesting as buying a coke at a liquor store...

You can't beat the price! Even if it's too far gone, you could take the good parts of, grind them down, paint them, and be ready to reinstall on the truck that works. I know you'll get another truck, it's just a matter of time.

A sunroof... I don't think I've seen one in an AD before. You just might have something there!

And you love it! You and your British sense of humor.:D

By the way, cattiwampuss is southern for out of alignment but, as with any southern word, you can use it for anything you want to.

Gater, are you sure about that?

I thought whompie-jawed was Southern for out of alignment:confused:

    Ken,
I think that is a synonym. Also, you have side-gogglin' that means running sideways or out of alignment. As in, "That old F#%d truck of Billy Bob's is running side-gogglin' down the road."

A truck can also run cattiwampus or whompie-jawed and mean exactly the same thing.

    Any others?

    ' I'm Your Huckleberry '

    FWIW ;

It means roughly " I'll be your b*tch " and was a serious insult in it's day as it implied '....if you can get it out of me '

We're pretty casual with language these days (thanx MTV & BET) but these was a day in America when saying something like that meant instant fight or gunplay .

    Nate,
I know what you mean. To tell you the truth, I am compelled to carry because of the crystal meth problem that we have in East Tennessee.
I know you have talked about what you have to deal with in your neighborhood and I think we use to consider that par for the course for LA. Nowadays you don't know if a guy is stopping to ask directions or to knock you out for the $20 in your pocket no matter what neighborhood you are in. I am restrained in the use of firearms due to training and good sense but make no mistake, if I am threatened and have a chance, I will survive.

    Sad, but true commentary, Gater!

I'm not sure which part of the state is worse, E. Tn or W. Tn. Mom says she can't even buy non-prescription cold meds without giving them her life history. I told her that even 77 year old grannies in W. Tn are getting in on the act! She looked at me and said "Don't you go there son, I brought you in to this world and I can take you out too!" "Mother, surely, you don't think I was insinuating that you could be buying those to make meth?" "I don't know, but don't call me Shirley"!

    Doggoned Dopers !

I hear you , tweakers are everywhere it seems these days .

I used to roam the desert without a care but now it seems the best junkpiles are also the meth labs .

I'd just be too easy for me to pull the trigger then the local Kum-By-Yah tree hugging folls would put _me_ under the jail

    So I don't carry anymore .

Besides , I'm not sure that part of my values is a thing I want to teach to-day's yoots .
