so, my OEM steering box is GONE. i mean, i can still turn and it works okay, but the steering wheel is a half turn to the left, to keep me straight-on.

i want to go power, but what years are ok for a swap?

and, off topic, but what can i do to convert to disc w/ 5 lug in the front?

oh god here we go again!!!! Felix if you have ome time surf back thru theses forums and you will find everything you want to know about pawer stering converstion and disc brake coverstions. I used a power steering from a 74 and a REZ plate. I used the disk brke setup form same truck . but the general opinion is using a conversion kit from our host. Kilroy Was Here!!!!! Power steering units from 73-87 will work with the above mentioned adapter kit. There was a change from SAE to Metric on the fittings at some point though.
Also, on the 5 lug conversion, you can use 71-87 parts or buy a disc brake kit. There are various ways to do it, just try to use the search and see which way would be best for you.

With both of these questions, the search function can be your best friend on this as well as other forums for these trucks.

yes as said the 1980 was a cross over year you could get both .But most would be Metric in that year. 1981-1987 would be total Metric fitting.

There are other parts you might want to check for your steering slop. Check tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, upper/lower control arm bushings, and upper and lower ball joints. A combo of these worn out parts can make it seem like the steering box has alot of slop in it.

my truck has the entire crossmember from a 74 c10 bolted in with power steering, disc power brakes etc.. even has the sbc 400. lol. if you can do it get a whole truck since you want power steering, 5 lug and disc etc.. just find one with a bad engien and body and swap everything over. for the cross memeber swap new holes had to be drilled into the frame though.
