    I had posted earlier that my son and I had gone to Atlanta for his spring break. There is also a recent post about the importance of being there as a father. I am not perfect by any means but I have taken spring break with my daughter and son for 16 straight years. In the early days I would work around the farm with my little girl sitting in the truck reading her kindergarten books. Later we went to New York and saw the Statue of Liberty, Twin Towers, and a play. With my son we have gone to the Space Museum in Huntsville, Oak Ridge where the Manhattan Project was and now to Atlanta. My daughter will be 21 in May. We don't always see eye to eye but she knows I love her. To you young dads out there all I can say is the investment is well worth it. I know that I am probably preaching to the choir. I know Chiro is using his truck just for this purpose and I very much respect him for that. These old trucks are a link from generation to generation that kids today need. Anyway, here are some pics from the Atlanta trip. One is the Coke bottle at Turner Field. One is my son and me on Stone Mountain and the other is my son in the dugout at Turner.

    Too cool!!! thanks for sharing.

    There is no substitution for great dads. My dad is an amazing person!!! He and my mom made me who I am today. When my wife and I decide to start having kids, I can only pray that I will be half as good of a dad as my dad was to me. What a great time!!!

    It's a tough job allright :(

    I had ZERO experiances to fall back upon but I gave it my best shot and raised a kid in the Ghetto who doesn't smoke or steal , have tattoos nor belong to any gangs , no bastard children etc.

    I think the time I spent with him was the single biggest thing .

    That and I refused to lie to him like most parents do because they think it's easier .

    I am NOT his freind , I am his father and always will be .

    You done good Gater and we're all right proud of ya for it .

    You go, Gator.

    I gotta tell you that the divorce left me mostly broke, so the only thing I really have to spend with my kids is time. That's one reason our truck doesn't have a fancy paint job. I fish, bike go to beach, road trip to friends out of state. All that is relatively low budget, but the rewards pay big dividends. My kids LOVE being with me and I don't miss a minute of it unles I have to.

    I just love that you take the time to be with your kids. Looking back, I can't remember a single time when my folks spent a lot of money on me, although I'm sure it did happen. What I remember most was the TIME we spent together, which was never enough of course.

    Keep it up. Proud of you.

    Andy

    You-da-man

    Again, thanks for sharing;

    I wasn't the greatest dad with my kids. They turned out mostly because of their mom. I've been a dedicated "provider" most of my life but missed quite a bit of thier growing up because of it. 10 grandchildren lalter---none on the dole---I'm reaping rewards only the wife deserves. We all love each other and the family get-together has grown to 27 now. WHEW!:eek: After 40 years with the same lady, maybe it gave them something to strive for? Family is important!!!!!

    Just so I get a truck note in here, Matter got some more new skin today. I sure ain't the best at this but it is certanily better than it was.

    Thanks Gator,
    Rick
