I bought this truck and an 85 25' 5th wheel together. I love the truck but have a few questions.

    1. The truck has 97k on it. I was considering putting a Sidewinder turbo system on it. Since this isn't a true diesel but a conversion what effect will it have on the life of the engine? And how many miles can I expect to get out of it without the turbo?

    2. My 5th wheel is 7,500lbs the Banks system will give me 60 more HP and 115lbs more Torque. Is it worth it for $3,000 installed?

    3. I need to replace the glowplugs but my chilton manual is sadly lacking in documentation for the 379 6.2L Diesel can someone help?

Thanks so much for any informantion you might have.

Either someone has given you bad information or you are seriously behind the times. The GM 6.2 is a diesel engine, pure and simple. Designed that way from the ground up. It is extremely durable and reliable, and if maintained properly will give you at least double the mileage that's on it now.

If you want a decent service manual, buy the GM factory service manual. It will cover everything in detail.
