    Seasons Greatings to All,

By chance does any one have or know where I can get the spare tire hardware for the side of the bed, or where are there any plans to have them fabricated? I need two, so I think.

    Spare tire bracket

    Hello, ccharr,
I've got a complete bracket assembly from a '54, with the fender cut-out (the fender was trash, so I cut out the tire dimple. The top portion is a 90 degree angle to fit the '54 bed, unlike the earlier ones that have the 45 degree, but could be made to fit I suppose. Don't know if that's what you're looking for, but could meet your need. They're hard to find, at least here in the Mid-Atlantic area. I think that was a Southern/Western thing.

Charles and I don't need fender cut outs. The only reason we might need one on a 3800 is if we wanted to put both spares on the same side.:D

:) With the 9ft bed using a fender tire cut out would allow space for a gas can and tire to set on one side and an ice box cooler and tire on the other side.
However that is a little more work than I want to tackle at this time. Would have it's own different look if someone wanted to tackle it.
However I have an old home made one on the truck now that I keep if I have to, still would like a factory issue hanger to use .

    I need one too.

I have the same issue. I'd like to see a picture of how it's made, so I can make one myself. Thanks Guys.

    Greg,
    Thanks for the fotos.
By chance do you have any measurements on those?
The homemade one on my truck goes from post to post and is ugly!!, but it works. Again thanks.

I almost forgot this project. I will send measurments soon. Sorry for the delay. Now that this post heads to the top again, I will have a built in reminder.

OK, I took a few measurments off of an extra spare tire mount I have for a 54. Let's start with thr trapezoidal part that the spare mounts to. The bottom of it is 9 1/2" across, the sides are 8 1/4" and the top is 2 1/2" across. The top support stud mounts 2 1/4" down from the top and the bottom two support studs are 6 3/4" apart. The upright angle iron pieces are 12" apart and 19 3/4" tall with an indention to follow the rib in the bedside. There are two bars on each side that are bent in a V shape that have sides 12" in length and the open ends are 12 1/2" apart. Then there is the top "V" that also has 12" sides but the open ends are 12" apart. I hope that these measurments along with the photo album will help you duplicate what you want. Good Luck, G.H.
